Sept 6th @ 7:00 pm
The Next meeting of the CFRS will be @ 7:00 PM Thursday 9/6/2018 at:
Leu Gardens 1920 N Forest Ave Orlando, Fl.
During the summer months (July & August) the Central Florida Rose Society will take a break from its monthly meetings and hope everyone will have a wonderful and safe summer. Remember, your roses need to be kept watered frequently during the long hot summer and don’t forget to drink lots of water yourself. Also all members can now go to the Member’s page and see the combined July/Aug issue of the newsletter.
At each meeting we have wonderful speakers or demonstrations of how to grow GREAT Roses in Florida. In September we will be privileged to welcome to our meeting Dr. Malcolm Manners from Florida Southern College in Lakeland. Dr. Manners is an internationally noted rosarian whose presentation will focus on rose grafting methods, rose mosaic virus, and Old Garden Roses. As the Chairman of the Horticultural Science Department, he has been growing roses for over 30 years and the gardens of Florida Southern boasts over 350 plants from 250 varieties, with another 100 varieties housed in the college greenhouses.
So everyone interested in growing GREAT Roses should plan on attending by adding the date and time to your calendar.
This fall we will also be quite fortunate to add Robert Bowden, Director of Leu Gardens to one of our programs. In either October or November Robert will bring us up to date on exciting plans for the Leu Rose Garden.
What a great time to be a member of The Central Florida Rose Society with all these great programs being planed. We would love to hear from you if there is a program or aspect of our hobby that you would be interested in learning more about. Our wonderful 1st Vice-President, Martha would love the hear from you. Please send your ideas to her at email@example.com.
